Committee of Management Profiles
Dr Tim Kitchen
Tim is the Director of Learning Technologies at Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School in Melbourne, Australia and the Vice President of VITTA (Victorian Information Technology Teacher’s Association). He is also the Eastern Region Coordinator of the Building Bridges Interfaith Dialogue program in Melbourne Schools. Tim is a member of Collins Street Baptist Church and the Melbourne Cricket Club, two wonderful Melbourne religious institutions.
Tim is a regular writer for a wide range of national and international journals and presents at national and international conferences. He is an ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator), an internationally recognised award for outstanding educators. Tim co-wrote the VCE IT Textbook Information Processing and Management. He is also a co-director of Australian Christian Multimedia .
Peter Nash
Peter comes to the VITTA Committee with a range of experiences including senior systems and laboratory management roles with well known companies like AWB Ltd. In the last 9 years Peter has been teaching senior IT and VET IT. He have been member of VITTA for all of his teaching career, now being a member of the VITTA committee for the last four years with a VET focus.
Peter is actively involved with the mentoring teachers at Galvin Park Secondary College to effectively use ICT in the curriculum. VITTA has provided Peter many opportunities for his own professional learning, to network with a wide range of teachers and further develop his knowledge in use of ICT in education. Peter enjoys helping others and spreads his knowledge and skills to many other teachers particularly in VET. Peter contributes to all aspects fo the VITTA organisation, that is, VET and elearning professional learning and events, VET resources, and contributing to the VET IT online education communities.
Andrew Shortell
Andrew has taught Information Technology since 1987 working across four systems, Catholic, State, Independent and TAFE. He has been an Exam marker since 1990 and is an VCE exam setter for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessement Authority, MUFY and RMIT and has written many pratctice exams.
Andrew has contributed to and presented at many conferences. He enjoys providing professional learning and has co-authored two text books. At a school level, Andrew has worked as Network Administrator and has taken on leadership roles in Information Technology in different schools. Andrew's experience extends into the tertiary sector, lecturing at RMIT particulary in RMIT TAFE; cert IV assessor in Information Technology.
Andrew is a proud father of a 13 yr old daughter, lives in the country (tree change); has a dog, two horses and a large veggie garden!
Brendan O'Brian
Brendan has extensive experience as a Science, IT, Phisics and Theatre Studues Teacher. For the last 10 years he has worked as a Teacher Educator in Science, eLearning, web design and multimedia production. He currently leads the Hume Ultranet coaching team and is the convenor of the Global ScienceVideo competition www.60secondscience.net
Anna Cosio-Maramba
Anna has been teaching in Australia for 4 years. She teaches Psychology, VCE IT and VCAL. Her expertise resides in teaching students from an ESL background.
Dianne Ruffles
Dianne is the Director of Information Services at Melbourne High School as well as the Treasure of the School Library Association of Victoria. She has a particular interest in embedding ICT into learning and teaching, especially for years 9 and 10, across all curriculum areas. Dianne specialises in content curation, digital citizenship, higher-order thinking and ICT, digital literacy and information information fluency.
Antonia Caridi
Antonia is the Director of Learning at St. Aloysius College in North Melbourne and is an experienced ICT teacher from years 7 to 12. Her main expertise reside in the implementation of ICT across the curriculum and in ICT leadership.
Denise Mendham
Denise holds a Master of ICT in Education from the University of Melbourne. She teaches in the areas of ICT and Visual Arts and has a special interest in visual literacy. She has been teaching prep-6 ICT for the past 6 years and has been a member of the VITTA Committee for 10 years and has managed the 6in6 competition since its inception.
Dr Sean Maynard
Dr Sean Maynard is a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. He has been teaching a various ICT related subjects for over 20 years including programming, database, information management, project management, decision support systems and information security. Sean is a strong supporter of integrating ICT into the curriculum and has a passion for encouraging students to make ICT a career.
Sean’s other interests include photography (of all kinds), tennis and golf. He also has enjoys “playing” with computers – including game playing – in his spare time.
