Who is this for?
This conference is designed for all teachers both Primary and Secondary and of all subjects and specialist ICT.
What will you come away with?
The Conference sessions on the Australian curriculum, augmented reality, QR codes, differentiated learning, the iPad trial and many others show how the future is being transformed. "One-to-one learning is based on the belief that people learn differently as a result of owning personal handheld computing devices (Chan et al., 2006). The attributes of these devices, including portability, connectivity and context sensitivity combined with sound pedagogical ideas can transform learning." from Educational Technology & Society, 13 (4), 1–3.
At the very least you will come away with ideas, resources, meeting great educators involved in the field of mobile learning and most of all, inspiration you can take straight to the classroom.

iDigistories: Creating with iPads and other iDevices John Pearce/Salty Solutions An oft heard criticism of iPads, iPods etc is that they are great consumption devices but as a creative tool they struggle to make the grade but as with most new tools it doesn’t take long to disprove these first impressions. One area where iDevices can be a really powerful creative tool is in the area of digital storytelling. When you combine the capability to capture audio, images and video on the fly with editing tools such as StripDesigner, Comic Life, AudioBoo, SonicPics and Videolicious and Reel Director you have all you need to tell a story on the fly. Adding the capability to blog these stories live from your device and you have a great tool for telling your story to the world. This session will explore just how easy it is to create your own digistories. |

Content apps for the iPad Clare Rafferty, Ringwood Secondary College Flash enabled apps and other useful iPad apps – In this session we will explore the Flash enabled apps and 10 of the top apps that students and teachers are using currently at rsc. Apps and Data Cecilie Murray, Director, Delphian elearning If you are an innovative thinker, keen to add value to your students’ use of apps, consider apps that provide data. This session is a hands-on experience with mobile learning apps that provide data in the classroom. App-titude educational apps will be used to demonstrate the potential of this concept where teachers can view and manage automatic assessment of student progress from an online assessment system that provides graphs including leaderboards, classroom participation and performance results. If you and your students are building your own apps, you can gather data from a customised online assessment system for your school. |

Creating applications Andrew Hansen, Science Curriculum Coordinator at Ringwood SC Professional podcasts and digital resources can look and sound like a Cecil B. DeMille epic. Do they have to? What do students want / need from us in terms of digital resources? What do they do with them? What do they expect? Having tried to rival Hollywood and then talking to my own students about their needs let me share some ideas about what can be done to support students learning. This session will be heavily focused towards MAC however some discussion about Windows applications will also occur. Participants should bring their laptop as we will be spending as much time trying things as we can. |

4B Lab 2 |
