The e5 Instructional Model and Gifted Education
A Twilight Seminar for Primary & Secondary Teachers Tuesday 23rd February 2010 with Lynn Ordish & Penny Willoughby
The e5 Instructional Model has been introduced by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development as part of their goal to provide every Victorian child with the opportunity to succeed. This model is designed to assist school leaders and teachers to develop a shared understanding of how teachers can improve their practice, as well as to provide a focus for professional learning.
The Workshop: Part 1: provides an overview of the e5 Instructional Model.
Part 2: draws out connections between the e5 Instructional Model and effective teaching of students with high potential. These students may underachieve in a traditional mainstream setting and benefit from modified teaching approach to allow them to perform to their potential. The workshop will reveal that many aspects of the Model are closely aligned with, and support, good educational practice in relation to high potential students. Finally, the workshop will help educators ‘line up all the ducks’: it will provide practical ideas for how to implement the e5 Instructional Model in ways that facilitate better teaching and learning for high potential students.
The Lining Up All The Ducks workshop will include practical, useful information, lots of useable tips to take away and provide a bit of fun.
Time: 4.30 – 6.00pm Light afternoon tea provided from 4.15pm.
Venue: Phoenix Theatre, Elwood College, 101 Glenhuntly Road, Elwood Entrance to the Phoenix Theatre is via Glenhuntly Road.
Parking available in the side streets or in the ‘quadrangle’ which can be entered from Coldsmith Street.
