YAGA Young Australasian Games Awards
29 Nov 2010The Young Australasian Games Awards replace the VITTA Programming Awards in 2010. Winning entries will be announced at the VITTA Annual Conference, Engaging Generation Now at Caulfield Racecourse on Monday 29 November.

Schools can submit as many entries as they like into any category.
Software
No restrictions are placed on either the programming language or development environment -
however, students should ensure that they include both the source code and an executable version
of the program in their submission. Listed below are some examples of languages and
environments used in both primary and secondary schools.

- Scratch
- Kahootz
- Kodu
- Game Maker
Secondary Games Programming
- C#
- VB
- Xbox
- Game Maker
- PHP
- Python
- iPhone app
Games theme and prizes
Students are challenged to write a game teaching concepts relating to Neighbourhood Watch – building a safer community.
Prizes include an iPhone 4 or an Xbox.
In addition to any prizes that students receive, the most impressive of the winning entries will be publicised nationally via the VITTA web site and through Neighbourhood Watch.
Students should also ensure:
- They include specific documentation outlining the language and version used
- Graphics and sounds are original
- The Neighbourhood Watch logo may be used however the Victoria Police logo is not to be copied or used within any component of the submission.

Resources
VITTA have produced Game Maker resource packages specifically for the YAGAs. The packages include step‐by‐step instructions with screenshots, and demonstration games.
