Game Maker: Extending Platform Games Part 1

Game Maker Tutorials

Why Game Maker?

Many will agree that students learn to create a range of games in Game Maker much faster than conventional programming languages. It is also not uncommon for students to look for creative ways to extend the platform games tutorials available online. This PD session will cover in-depth the concepts of gravity, platforms and also how to successfully create a moving platform.

VITTA and experienced teacher Nat Bradshaw presents resources where you will explore Game Maker in order to learn, inspire and engage. Game Maker allows you to quickly create exciting computer games, without the need to write code. Gain confidence in programming skills and develop a fun game to showcase to your students.

Game Maker's simple drag and drop interface is friendly enough to use with as young as Year 3, but through its powerful scripting language, it is suitable for students at all levels. With Game Maker you can easily create games such as top view, platform games, first person shooters, 3D and networked multiplayer games. It is a fully fledged programming language capable of non game applications such as physics simulations and databases.
