Java and PHP Programming Languages can run on any computer operating system and are known as cross-platform languages. They also produce web based and web database applications, in both client and server modes. Together with the increasingly popular Linux Operating System, these languages provide the backbone upon which the majority of Internet and E-Commerce applications rely.

This CD aims to demystify Linux and give practical help to those who wish to develop programming applications for the fastest growing operating system and network solution in the world. Access to the languages used on this CD (several are "Open Source"), and their development environments, are obtained through websites and are freely downloadable, not time bombed and have minimal registration requirements.

The method of instruction employed in this CD is "learning by example" where the basics are illustrated through examples. The Programmers Toolkit takes the reader through a progression of tasks, from Beginner, (Year 7 or 12 year-old) to First or Second-year University Entrant.
