3in6 Rules

When - 6 hours from approximately 9.00am to 3.00pm on a nominated date in October - this includes writing, filming, editing. The rendering may take place soon after this if necessary.
Location for the videos - recorded at your school, anywhere within the school boundaries. With some creativity you can find an angle, room or location
Appropriateness of subject matter - must be suitable for a G or General Rated audience of children, parents and teachers. You must at all times avoid obscene, sexist or racist language, sexually suggestive or explicit scenes, dangerous activities, adult themes or violence. Unsuitable videos will not be included.
Music - if used, must either be original, copy left, creative commons or royalty-free. Royalty-free music is 'royalty' free not recognition free. All the creating and contributing artists must be mentioned in the closing credits.3in6 student groups who achieve the most success spend time considerable time in advance planning, developing skills, assigning tasks within their group, and collecting the many resources that they might need on the day. These include music, title frames, credit frames, camera and tapes, props, lighting and reflectors, possible story lines, and possible shoot-locations around the school.
Supervising teachers must not direct the activities of students or conduct the filming or editing. They are encouraged to limit their supervision to motivate and organizing 3in6 in their schools. In advance, arrange cameras and mini-DV tapes, lighting, blank CD's, computers capable of editing Video, packaging for postage of winning CD's and Directors Cuts CD's, to assist judging. Also have on hand a digital camera to capture the many magical moments that will happen on the day. You can email some of these to the 3in6 organizer (compressed to under 100Kb please). Schools can only submit one entry per category. Schools who have multiple entries for 3in6 are to select the best entry in each category and submit this movie only.
