3in6 Dates and Deadlines

The 3in6 awards works with a sequence of events that happen in a pre-determined order. Teachers and students are advised to add these dates into their diaries. Schools are busy places, and many demands can take us away from activities such as 3in6 so to keep on track, try to work ahead of time. In previous years, the 3in6 organizers have appreciated those schools who pride themselves on careful, accurate and timely organization.

Please let the 3in6 organiser know if you are going to be away from school on the day, arrange a replacement supervising teacher. Too much time was spent chasing up schools who were 'lost' in this way.

  • These are not to be revealed to teams until day of filming (29th October).
  • School to organise local permission for students to participate in an incursion event on the day.

3in6 day on Thursday 29th October from 9.00am to 3.00pm

  • Student teams receive the two secret pieces of information from the 3in6 Teacher-in-charge, write, film, edit their videos in just 6 hours.
  • The supervising teacher must review the script and story board and any props to ensure that the students plan of work demonstrates a safe and responsible environment.
  • Students sign a document to verify that thisis their work and they have followed copyright and appropriateness rules.
  • Traditionally we conduct the event on the first Thursday before the first Victorian VCE English Examination.

Post 3in6 day November 5th

  • Rendering of all school videos to Size: 100mb Extensions: mpg, avi, mp4, wmv.format then uploaded to the Competitions section of www.classnet.com.au. You do not need to create an interactive DVD with menu system. Only the 3 min video will be viewed by judges so we only need to view the high quality video file.
  • The rendering of a video can take some time depending on the computer. This does not use the student's creative 6 hours.
  • Student teams may like to prepare a Director's Cut that documents the video production process and personal reflections. It only needs to be as simple as a voice over by the production crew that replaces the original sound track. This addition may be considered by judges when comparing and deciding between the best entries for each category.
